Further Information:

If you take a look inside some of the fastest K-powered cars, there is a pretty good chance that you'll find the award winning K-Tuned Billet Shifters mounted on the floor beside the driver's seat. Over the last few years, the shifters have set the bar pretty high with more iterations and improvements released over the years. Billet Shifters are popular for use in K-Swapped cars and a couple of different stock chassis, read further down for more information on compatibility.

When Spoon Sports of Japan asked K-Tuned for one of their original K20A Billet Shifter to use in an endurance road race car they were working on, they graciously accepted the request. In conjunction with Spoon Sports, feedback from several other racers influenced and accelerated the design of the Race-Spec version that was already on the design table. At a quick glance, the shifter closely resembles the standard shifter with a few changes made to the shift lever and elbow to support the high demands of race cars.

Later, the TSX shifter launched, suitable for the Accord CL9 (and other USDM vehicles) as well as K-Swap applications. The unique point of this shifter is that it will work with both K24A3 and K20Z4 (Civic Type-R FN2) transmissions when utilising the appropriate cables as it has two different cable mounting points. Finally, the most audacious shifter yet, the Race-Spec shifter with a Programmable Shift Cut Sensor. Including a hall-effect sensor which can be connected to a programmable ECU input, to signal an ignition timing cut at set points during shifts. Read more details on each below.

Standard Billet Shifter (K20A/K20A2):

Direct replacement for the OEM DC5 shifter box which can also be used in many K-swapped cars. The box has been designed to work with both factory and aftermarket shifter cables. If you are currently using an OEM shifter box you are probably already familiar with the excessive 'play' or 'looseness' that is found in the factory plastic box setup. Our full billet design is extremely strong and designed to eliminate any flex or movement of the shifter unit.

Our Billet Shifter Arm is integrated and has been redesigned to make fine adjustments to the spread of the 'H' shift pattern. Essentially this feature allows the user to widen the spacing between 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. Note that 2nd, 4th, 6th and reverse gears will also be spread apart when adjusted. We have also developed a proper short shifter option that won't damage or break the cable guides. This is accomplished by making the shifter cable mounting point adjustable to correct the angle at the cable connection. The shift lever and shifter ball are made from solid stainless steel and seated in a spring loaded brass socket. This combination of stainless and brass allows the two materials to lap together while the springs push up and eliminate 'play' at the ball. The lever is fully adjustable in height and offset rotation. Height can be adjusted up to 2î taller or shorter than stock and there is an amazing 90 different offset positions.

The shifter has two different sets of mounting holes on the base so it can be easily bolted into several applications. Mounted into a DC5 (outer holes) and it will still fit perfectly below the DC5 centre console. It can also be used on most K-swapped cars that are using some type of shifter mounting kit (outer holes used again). However, it also has a set of inner holes that will allow it to be installed directly on top of the interior exhaust tunnel without the need for a mounting plate. In an EF/EG/DC2/EK the inner set of holes at the back of the shifter line up with the holes used for the factory D or B-series shift linkage. Shave down the lip for the shift boot and drill 2 more holes for the front and you're done. We don't think there is anything that we missed during development. We will let you tell us how we did.

Race-Spec Billet Shifter (K20A/K20A2):

At a quick glance, the shifter closely resembles the original design with a few changes made to the shift lever and elbow to support the high demands of race cars. The Race-Spec Shifter uses a simpler fixed elbow position, which is only height adjustable and ideal for circuit racers who really like to use the tallest setting. For drag racers, this design is perfect for heavy shifting in cars with dog box transmissions and straight cut gears. Unlike a stock transmission, most of us know that you can't shift a dog box setup with light hands.

Direct replacement for the OEM DC5 shifter box and was been designed to work with both factory and aftermarket shifter cables. The full billet design is extremely strong and eliminates all the flex and looseness that are felt with the stock plastic box. The shift lever and pivot ball are made from solid stainless steel and are seated in a spring loaded brass socket. This combination of stainless and brass allows the two materials to lap together while the springs push up and eliminate ñplayî at the ball. For mounting, there are two different sets of holes on the base, so it can be easily bolted into several stock and K-swap applications. The Race-Spec Billet Shifter was designed for professional hard-core racers and we are pleased to offer them a shifter that is truly "Race Proven".

Pro Shift Cut Race-Spec Shifter (K20A/K20A2):

Featuring a Programmable Shift Cut Sensor. This sensor is mounted on the back of the shifter and uses Hall Effect technology (just like our TPS) to accurately measure front to back shift throw and convert it into a voltage reading. The system functions very similar to a TPS sensor but instead of measuring throttle plate position it measures actual shifter position. This information can be very useful for some race applications because the data the sensor provides can be connected to a programmable ECU input, to signal an ignition timing cut at set points during shifts. Operation is comparable to expensive strain gauge setups with one pretty big advantage; you do not have to let go of the shifter after every shift. Taking your hand off, can be very hard for some drivers to learn especially for those who have a habit of holding the shifter almost constantly.

The 3 wire sensor can be supplied with any ECU voltage between 5V and 16V, so it will work on just about any ECU input circuit. When connected, the ECU will be able to read the exact shifter position and an experienced tuner will now be able to calibrate the exact positions where the ignition timing cut is engaged. For users who do not have experience creating tables and programming ecus to read signal inputs, we have developed a programmable interface unit that simplifies things quite a bit. The interface reads shifter position based on a 5V circuit, so only the 2 engagement points, activate and stop, need to be set. Using a single button on the unit, the user will be able to set the exact operating window of the shift cut signal. The output signal leaving the interface unit will essentially become the on/off switch for the ignition cut and can be set up as a positive or ground signal.

Currently compatible with AEM Infinity, Haltech and Motec systems which all have programmable ecu inputs. The programmable interface unit will be needed for K-Pro applications and is purchased as an add-on option. We want to note that the Pro Shift Cut is not a bolt on option for existing shifters. It is only offered as a complete shifter with the sensor already mounted in place and ready for use. The shifter comes with a set of preset shift stops, to prevent over-shifting and a centering tool for perfect setup of our adjustable K-Tuned race-spec shift cables.

Standard Billet Shifter (K20Z4/K24A3):

This shifter is a direct drop in replacement for the Accord CL9 and its matching OEM cables, cable brackets and transmission. If you have a K-Swap car, applications definitely go a bit further because this shifter can also be used on several different K-Swap setups including the K20Z4 transmission. We accomplished this by designing the shifter with two different cable mounting positions. The rear cable position is used only for the K20Z4, while the front cable position is used for the Accord shift setup. Each transmission must be used with it's original cables and bracket to be compatible.

Made almost entirely of 6061 billet aluminium, with some stainless steel in the mix for additional strength. We solved the weak side arm problem by using a delrin pivot ball and included some adjustment to shorten the shift throw up to 35%. We also offer an optional tall shift lever for circuit racers that want 6" of additional height. The overall design will eliminate any flex or movement that is found in the OEM plastic box. Whether you are street driving or out on the track trying to set a new personal best, our award winning shifters are second to none.

  1. Brilliant shifter and a must for any fast road or track driving.
