Bit of a let down really, only just caught like the last ten/twenty minutes but that was more than enough to gain an understanding of what was going on. What I saw was two young mechanics pitted against each other to quite literally 'RICE' a Ford Escort. Was a shame really, was hoping for something a bit more interesting...

Serisously, total let down. Anyone else have a gander?

me and clive just watched it at mine, good watch, judges were pretty serious too.

coupla kids made some shocking decisions but then some of them were really consistent and collected throughout.

I liked the idea of the twin immobilizer, engine bay one would be good to cut off when on holiday etc
  3. 1964 Club Veteran ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ was it just all about basically modding the cars and seeing who ran a quicker 500m time? sorta like Slips? Idk, didn't appeal to me too much...

i watched the last half hour off it. Seemed alright , the one geeza muist of been thick to think a lower octane fuel burns quicker and give the car more performance...

to be honest its the only car show I've seen where the people on it werent idiots,

the last challenge was a bit shit, putting an exaust and an air filter on, taking seats etc out and new spark plugs, wasnt the most exciting thing in the world, especially when the guys (only seen the last 3) seemed relatively intellegent (spelling) from the questions they answered

to be honest, i'm sure most of us on here coulda done what they were asked to do.

When they had their 'quiz' thing in the 'hush room' what was that 'catalytic converter' answer all about....

erm....... how do these people deserve mechanic of the year. very very basic tests and working. things like this annoy me cos there are alot harder working people out there with a better knowledge base that don't get recongition

my mate was watching it (time served renault tech, doing senior/mastertech training) and said it was a disgrace that some of them couldn't even do basic wiring

he's going to enter next year and win it

They all seemed pretty simple, even my misses was diagnosin the problems before they were!.

leavin a live, exposed wire by the fuel tank. WHAT A TART!!!

i have to say i wasnt overly impressed with this program, really thought they would have given them some more complicated tasks seeing as most people with basic car knowledge could have done what they were asked to do
