I am considering purchasing a caravan to tow on my Exec. 1.6 I-DTEC 160PS . Want to know how this engine responds to towing and what weight of caravan was towed. Thanks.

Hello @Celtictemple in order for us to help you, it helps if you add your car to the club garage.
However assuming you have a 2016 CR-V (I found towing details for 2016 in the owners manual).
Here are the Max towing weight:

In regards to towing, I cannot comment as I haven't towed a caravan with any of my cars however you may find this helpful

    Hi
Got 1.6 auto and tow a Lunar Ultimate 470, of mtplm 1350kg. Usually loaded to 1220kg and noseweight of 85kg.
Car tows really well, stable and returns a good MPG for an auto of between 27-32mpg depending on traffic and weather.

On my 3rd CR-V since 2010 and towed the same caravan with each over the years. 1st one was a 2010 2.2 dtec manual, then a 2016 1.6 idetc 9 speed auto, and now a 2018 1.6 I-DTEC manual (last of the 4th Generation). Caravan is an Abbey Vogue with an MTPLM of 1295kg so well within the towing limits of the manuals and just under 90% of the auto limit. All three have been great towcars with no issues regarding power or stability. The auto was probably the best at towing as being a 9 speed it always seemed to have the right gear whatever the speed and was ideal for slow manoeuvring of the caravan. The latest one is giving the best MPG - averaging around 30mpg when towing. The auto was around 28 and the 2.2 diesel was around 25.

That last sentence was exactly what the Honda experience has been for me and the few friends I have convinced to make the change to Honda - a sensible choice rather than an exciting or thrilling one!

The caravan is the best for normal towing have been using it for 1 year it can be used as multiple purposes, we are using it for Manhattan towing service in new york. so I would suggest if you are willing to buy this so don't wait just do it.
