That little 208 sounds just amazing.

Loved his car control, he kept that balanced beautifully with the throttle, feeding the power in as he straightened out, smooth transitions all the way. That thing just accelerated like a rocket. Agreed CJ, what a great piece of driving

Here is a video of how NOT to drive Pikes Peak

The crash at 3:00 is rather nasty

If either of the French manufacturers ever got into F1 they should get Sébastien Loeb in that car. I would pay over the odds to see him he is so good.

Rich this is the all time classic from, insane antilag on those turbos back in the day. Note there is dirt not tarmac.

At 3.55 you can see the size of the turbo from the back windscreen see the size of that!

    I
like the bit where he's driving into the sunlight and he puts his hand up to shield his eyes!!! Really would you take a hand off the wheel at that speed and in that place??? No way Jose .

Mate you had to be from a special breed to drive those insane Turbo Group B rally cars they are unreal power.Like F1 in the 1980 Honda was close in making 1600 BHP from a 1600cc Engine and ultra reliable power.

FIA quickly put an end to both.. :Whiteflag:

Have a look at these Group B beasts.

1600bhp?? How? How would you even transfer that much power down in the 80s. Even now they would struggle. Assume you meant 160?

Those group B cars are just fantastic.... they sound amazing.

    Such skill, love it.

Well that Honda F1 engine never saw the light of day but I did read up on the mission in the 1990's in Honda R&D archives. It was written by the genius Nobuhiko Kawamoto.

The engine is sitting somewhere in Japan wrapped up. You have to imagine the 80's and 90;s they were throwing away engine and turbo after each practice session & after each race. money was no object...and resources well you had a blank cheque book.

The group B cars were the same new turbo new engine after a couple of SS.

Totally correct, the boost was wound up to around 1600bhp for qualifying but the engines and gearboxes only lasted around 2-3 laps so the boost was turned down for the race and they ran at around 950-1000bhp.
