Anyone know if it's possible to buy a facelift satnav and DVD drive and put them in a pre facelift, and have it work ?

It's possible... you'd need to know what differences there are in the wiring and adjust as required... you may also need the loom, the GPS sensor and so forth... Then there's the amp for the premium sound system... is that the same or not.

First step is to compare wiring diagrams for both I would think.

Yeah I expected that would be the case
Not sure I want to do all of that just to go from an outdated satnav to a slightly less outdated one

Found some well priced 18" FN2 wheels on Facebook marketplace yesterday, so went off to Luton yesterday to collect them. They have some curbing damage to them (nothing major), so will need refurbing, but they're ok for now. Definitely fills the arches a little better than the 17" EP3 wheels

    Before

On EP3 wheels and no lowering

    On EP3 wheels after lowering

    And now
    20190404_075650. 20190404_080450.

Probably gonna get them repainted as well, as they're currently a sort of bluish pearl colour

I actually prefer the design of the 17's myself... But then I have a thing about the number of spokes on wheels. 5 is the sweet spot, split 5's is even better but anything with 6-9 spokes looks wrong to my brain.

I'd recommend powder coating those wheels rather than painting. It's a stronger and more durable finish... There's a place in MK called Rimtech that specialises in them and did mine for £66 per wheel. Having them painted was going to cost around £60 a wheel and the last time I had wheels painted they were bubbling and starting to peel within less than 2yrs... and that was done by a supposed professional wheel painting company in Woburn Sands. So I've never had wheels painted again, always powder coated.

I wouldn't bother, all the connectors are all different, not worth messing about with. Even if you got wiring bang on, the firmware will probably scupper you somewhere along the line, example certain buttons not working etc etc

I like the EP3 wheels as well, and would have them if they came that exact design in 18"

Sorry, I meant powder coating  I also don't like painted wheels. These are already powder coated, but need refurbing and I'm not sure about the colour.

This is purely a personal opinion... But I don't think that particular colour car suits a darker wheel. I'd be more tempted to go a lighter more stock silver.

Something to consider.... I suppose. Will see if I can photoshop the image with diff. colour wheels to see how they look

Well, with Midge now sold, all my attention will once again be focused on Ruby. That said, there's not really much more I would want to do to her, as I'm trying to keep her as 'standard' as possible. Don;t suppose anyone here has decent Photoshop skills, and could mock up her new wheels in different colours for me ?

I've not got around to reinstalling gimp (free and rather good photo editing program) since I built this new system... I'll have to sort that out over the weekend and then I'll take a shot at it.

Yup... whilst I do like that dark red colour car... it's not condusive to much in the way of colour on the wheels... A brighter red would look great with dark grey or black wheels... But the magenta-ish doesn't.

I did wonder if white would, so I threw it into MS paint for a quick look... it doesn't... I couldn't even bring myself to save it.

Wow.... who thought such a decision could be so hard....

Undecided on the colour to get my wheels done
    - - - Updated - - -
So.... I DO like how these look on the car in this colour. I think it 'draws attention away' from the glaring chrome still on there, and matches nicely with the window tints, as well as the red brake calipers....

    1477472_20190318_112608. 1477473_20190318_112621.

However.... this mock up makes me think that the wheels make the chrome less glaring, in that it sort of balances it out by not having all the chrome / silvery colours at the top of the doors. I'm also worried this colour on the wheel won;t match as well with the bright red calipers....

I'm gonna admit at the moment I'm leaning more towards the dark colour...

So vinyl wrap the chrome trim around the windows... not a lot you can do about the handles though.

As for the brakes... don't do them so bright.

So dropped the wheels off on Monday tor refurbing and powder coating. I've decided I'm going to be going for black on the wheels after all. Will also consider painting / wrapping the chrome trim on the doors as well. Colour matching the door handles may be a pain though, and not sure I wanna wrap them...

Anyways, with the money I got from selling Midge :Sobbing::Sobbing:, I was able to pay into the credit card, and finally get tickets for my next trip home to ZA in September. Had a little left over, so I'm looking into getting a used Android based head unit for Ruby. Not going to use it for more than navigation, music / radio and reversing camera, so going for a 1GB / 16GB model. If I'm happy with how it performs, then I might upgrade to a 2GB / 32GB version so that I can do more with it. Still not decided on the Tesla style 12.1 inch Android headunit. I like the idea, but the more I look at it, the more out of place it looks. The fact I'm liking it less and less is good, as they're dang expensive..

Also found some Genuine mud flaps for her at a really good price, so will see how those look when they arrive from the states.

Had a look again yesterday at the boot opening mod using springs, but really don't like the idea of the boot lid springing open so violently, or drilling holes to mount them. I've therefore decided I won't be doing that mod after all.
