Engine & Gearbox Pinking noise

    VTEC kicks in (y0!) at 4k on the 1.8. Have you done the valve clearances at any stage?

    Not me personally but I had assumed Honda may have done it at some time over its servicing history. Maybe not. I did enquire if they could do it last week when having the MOT done but apparently they needed the engine to be cold and I didn't have the time to wait around

    If VTEC kicks in around 4k it is starting to think about it at 3.5k so it just might be valvas after all. I'll get the Feeler Gauges out

    It cans sometimes get overlooked or even need doing again, the engine needs to be stone cold so you would need to leave your car at the garage overnight.

    Not sure if that will be your problem, usually if som eof your valves clearances are too loose than engine will sound tappety.
