hey guys, and gals, just been researching on d-series.org

and found some good stuff about mini-me conversions.

its no use to me anymore as i just replaced my engine cuz of piston rings

but me and a friend just did a mini me conversion (z6 head on d15b2 block)

there was quite a lot of coke coming out of the exhaust which suggests bad timing, and a lot of smoke which also suggests bad timing aswell as piston rings gone.

if you are doing a mini me swap you will need an adjustable cam gear, to make the timing work, as you are running completely different engine parts together.

you can also run a d16y8 cam pulley and it will work.

also a re-map has been recommended if uasing a z6 head as even more unburnt fuel will be thrown into the cylinders

most of the time the timings fine if you use the timing belt to match the cam gear/cams used for the head....like you can use a y8 cam in a z6 head, but you have to use a y8 cam gear or something....

i came across someone doing it, and the timing was slightly off, but as you said an adjustable gear and a map can sort it nicely
