First off i don't want to make a honda forum haha.

I was wondering, how hard would it be for me to make my own site? just to somewhere for me to show my pictures and stuff i take? i currently use wordpress for a blog and flickr to host my pictures, but wondered if it would be hard to create a proper online portfolio with my own WWW. etc??

has anyone done it before? and what tips do u have?

i used flash with a bit of dreamweaver...i learn the basics a few years ago....but these days theres so many online website builders, they are quick and easy, arent always the most professional but they get the job done

if you're after a website builder, try wix.com, really good, made a website for my old school using that as part of a project. As said, not hte most professional, but great for flash and fancy effects.

Yeah dreamweaver will do it. Or try Joomla, should do the trick.

If you want a QUICK get around, buy a domain like www.aji621.com etc and point the record (so basically that domain) to your flickr. Some you can do it that way, some you may have to create a webforwarding but it will be under the CP of where ever you purchased it most likely.

It will obv. still be your flickr but you could then give out www.yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com/flickr which just points to it. One quick way to hand out your flickr without having to say oh yes its www.flickr.com/images/aji/345243523445 lol

It's relatively easy depending what you want to do.

However making it look good and function is a different matter. it's all down to how creative you are and how good your ideas are. For a portfolio you have to remember you're tryin to show off how good you are so an average website won't cut it

There's a shit-ton of tutorials out there, i'd recommend looking at some on http://tutsplus.com/ - there's loads of good stuff there

To get a web presence is easy. To get yourself out there, maybe show of some of your work etc is also easy.

If you want to make money, get your website looked at past just the people of CivicLife/Facebook or go somewhere with it is a whole different ball game.

Depending on what you want to achieve will get different advice.

Also, trust me here, i may not know how to wire up a resistor box for Prelude injectors, but i know websites.

Buy a domain not specific to your profession, ie, don't go buying aj-photography.com or something in case in future you expand into other things.

Just check out what's around you and if you don't want hired work, don't worry about SEO/best coding practise, just get something together that looks how you want it to look.
