    Introduction

Honda Connect is an internet connected audio system that not only plays audio via various sources (FM/AM, DAB, iPod, USB, and Bluetooth), it also uses the customers Smartphone or mobile Wi-FI device as an internet source for other audio / video. It also provides the Hands Free Telephone (HFT) functions and there is the option to have GPS based navigation. Before the customer receives their new car, the Honda Connect unit will require an update to be carried out to ensure that the customer gets the very latest versions of the on-board applications etc. and also register the cars VIN on to the system.

This update should be carried out as part of the PDI process and will require the Honda Connect unit connecting to the internet via Wi-FI to download the
    update. This service bulletin includes:
    - The pre requisite steps required before carrying out the update process.
    - The update process itself.

    Pre requisite steps
These are the steps that should be carried out before the Honda Connect update process.
    1. Confirming the unit has the correct date and time via its GPS location.
    2. Preparing the vehicle conditions.
    3. Making a suitable Wi-FI connection.
After the update is carried out, the Wi-FI connection should be deleted to avoid the customer inadvertently connecting to your dealers Wi-FI network.

    Confirm correct date and time
The date and time is set by GPS, so after the shipping fuses have been installed, the vehicle should be positioned outside away from buildings to detect the satellites which will give it its GPS position.

This can be confirmed on the Honda connect in the following ways:
    1. Press [HOME] (A) and confirm that the GPS location has been found, either by the satellite icon on the status bar (B) is displayed and is not flashing or by touching and swiping down on the status bar (C) to show the status screen.
    upload_2017-2-1_10-47-19.

2.Confirm the Location has been found by GPS and the date and time (D) are correct. Press [BACK] (E) to exit the status screen.

    Vehicle conditions
During the update process the engine either needs to be running or the Ignition needs to be in the ON (II) position combined with a suitable battery power back up e.g. Midtronics charger in power supply mode.
The vehicle needs to be parked in range of your chosen Wi-FI network and left stationary with the handbrake applied during the update.

    1. Press [HOME] (A) and then select "Settings" (B).
