General Help with Importing parts from Japan.

    Hi guys,

as you might have noticed I recently bought a Honda StepWGN imported from Japan.
Love the car but already came to the first hurdle!
Now we nned some roof bars for the car and we tried it all - Halfords, specialists for roof rails, even Honda dealers!
None of them are able to help in terms of what to buy, so it fits.
In the act of final desperation I turned to Yahoo Japan Auctions and found some.
Now the other problem is that I am not sure if there are still any companies in UK dealing with importing car parts (there is plenty of the ones importing cars) to the UK.
Anyone knows of any recommended ones please? If so can you let me know please?

IF this is a dumb question and it came along somewhere before - please direct me to that thread, so I can have a read!

Roof bars seem to be a common issue with import cars, with most having to be sourced from Japan. I've never used yahoo auctions or the middle-man services like buyee.jp but I know those who have with good results. I've used Crooober which are excellent. Found these https://www.croooober.com/en/item/8384089/Carriers/INNO-Based-carrier at 4990 yen or £30!!!!. They are second hand and the shipping will bump up the price but they are a good source of parts. Hope this helps.

Did you get your RG2 from Japanese MPV Motors in Birmingham? How did you find dealing with them? Were they honest straightforward etc?

Yes my RG2 is from them. Not superbly impressed at first due to poor English due to be honest they treated me right and answered all the questions and let me be as noisy as I could get. Moreover when cylinder 2 started misfiring due to worn coilpack they not only changed those but spark plugs as well at no extra charge. Oh and additionally they refunded me the cost of buying a new radio as the one in there had ESN lock on it.

Thank you for pointing me to Crooober will have a look there although the £30 ones do look like what I need after a lick of paint

For parts You can try something like Crooober, and I know Torque GT can import from Yahoo auctions. Might be able to find something in RHDJapan as well.

You could also try and find a cross reference part. Just because Thule don't say they list that car, doesn't mean they don't do something that does fit.

TorqueGT Can't help me - already asked them and it was a no. RHDJapan don't have roof bars... Crooober would be the last thing I can try because even when trying to cross reference part numbers I can't find anything for this roof rack setup: terzo EF14BLX EB3 EH337

Rich it's all good but those are for older body shape been through them already and it's simply the body difference that stops me from buying.

Gone and bought an RG2 kit from Japan today... I'll get it fitted when it eventually arrives ended up spending only £150 brand new shipped, so fongers crossed it makes it here before summer holidays!

I've had good luck ordering things off yahoo.jp through buyee.jp, they'll work out a bit more but well worth having something that fits properly and to handle the logistics of purchase and shipping from Japan. I've gotten wind deflectors, seat covers, and a few other things for the RG1 and other Jap imports that way. My understanding is that the Halfords ones will fit the RF versions but not the RG. Hope it does well for you and great to see another StepWGN here.

I went through buyee this time too, so I'm happy to see positive feedback

As for the RG I fell in love with it so much it's unreal. The comfort and space in such a small package are amazing. I only wish I've gone for the spada spec...

I don't know, some of the Spada specs can have less toys than a well appointed base version, just a bit more chrome. There were so many choices when buying one and really depends on what the original purchaser got included. I wouldn't trade my wood flooring option for much of anything it is so easy to clean after the kids have been in it for a while
The original sales info is here if you don't mind translating Japanese.

If your looking for cruise control because the auto-adaptive active cruise wasn't included on yours, Pivot do a good plug and play setup you can get in from Japan for small money.

The small reflectors at the back are the same as the GD1 Jazz/Fit and they sell led ones that can be used as fog lamps ebay

Also I've had good luck with running it on LPG the tank that can be fit is small enough and the 4WD setup on your might shrink that space again but it might be an option if you find the fuel economy a bit shocking - they are very thirsty on cold, short school runs.

Only other thought the air filter is very difficult to find locally, I got in a couple from fitinpart.sg but the usual places of Honda dealer or amayama.com would source it.

Hope yours does as well for you as it has for me!

This is a lot of helpful info! Thank you very much buddy! The cruise control is something I will be definitely looking ibto as this is the only thing missing to make it the ultimate dad's taxi and thank you for the rest of information too! I did find abwebsite with all the part numbers I think sonewhere and saved it, so I can cross reference for brakes and such I am very jealous about the wooden flooring though. Shame the one that had it was way too overpriced for it's state. But then again... How hard can it be to make?

    Hi guys!

Sorry for being absent for so long but managed to sort this out - in the end I went with buyee.jp and can't fault them for service and speed of delivery. Got the dedicated ones for my Wagon and love how easy it was to fit them!

I'll stick this here to help anyone else trying to sort this problem on the RG series.
It is not my research- nor my post all credit is to a member on a facebook post in the UK RG Stepwgn club.

"The parts required are as follows (having done the research, with a lot of cross-comparing websites and Google Translate, there are others available, but this seemed best to me):

The Feet - PIAA Terzo EF14BLX

The Grips - PIAA Terzo EH337

Protective Sheets (If wanted) - PIAA Terzo EA19

All of the above are available (and I purchased from) Amazon Japan.

Unfortunately, no-one seems to ship the actually Terzo bars to the UK on any website I could find. They are however a standard sized square bar. I bought:

    Halfords Exodus S127 bars.

You then need (if you want it tidy) some end caps (as Halfords include these in with the feet not the bars), found on eBay, search:

Roof Bar End Caps Thule Square Bars. "

Really good info there buddy! I believe that this was all I ordered but it was as one package. The roof bars arrived without a problem but as a separate box and because I forgot to mention repacking it into one box.
