The 1st Generation is goood. A mate of mine had one for 6 months, was runnin around 285bhp, with bluefin, powerflow full system, and some mad carbon intake setup. Drove well, although tended to torque steer quite abit. Looked lush with speedlines in white. He sold it and now has got a 4th Generation R32 Golf, which has since caught fire and constantly breaks down....

both new and old are absolutely epic machines. good build quality, reliable, will return sensible MPG if driven nicely (2nd Generation moreso), parts *in generel* not too overpriced.

can't go wrong, big fan of the 1st Generation myself

I saw a RS with a cossie engine in it at crail. It was quite epic. My mates dad has a new green focus rs. He traded it in for his GT3. He also has a 2nd Generation Escort which he says he likes better

I raced one last night down in Mexico, i beat it all the way to 4th but it slowly passes me after 4th. I am in a very near stock EP3. But yeah they're awesome cars with great looks and build quality.

EP3's + 1st Generation rs's are pretty much the same standard, in a straight line or on track.

Sorry I was looking at JDM EP3 not a EDM, 200hp over the 215hp JDM.
