hi everybody know the EG esi or lsi gearbox can use in EK3 iLs
EK3 gearbox is 9A,, and EG is S20.
yer mate i changed myn to an s20 from an EG.
how about the clutch and flywheel is it same? also the driveshaft?
used all the same parts from my ek3. including new clutch.
all SOHC d-series boxes are interchangeable for sure
don't know about the DOHC ones though
ok good, then i can find a S20 box,, to replace the 9A,,
i would recomend an S40 box mate from a JDM Civic, shorter ratios etc
JDM S40 I think will diffcult to find UK Esi is it using S20?
correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the UK EG ESi the shortest ratio UKDM D-Series box available?
NA mate the s40 JDM box is, its an immense box, i have one on my EK, makes a huge difference to acceleration.
read my post again...
I might look into getting an EG ESI box.. Is that an S20?
EK 3 boxes are made for economy so there geared long. Most people with esi's turbo them and like these boxes for top speed runs and 1/4 miles etc. my friend has a standard esi box and is looking for a swap for a ek3 box. pm and ill give you the details
immense fail on your little argument lmao
you do know that the s20-s40 denotes the year of the car in which the gearbox came out of
s20 = 92-95
s40 = 96-00
if you really wanna know the if its short ratio
look by the fill plug there will be a lovely casting stamp which will be s20 or s40 over either
A000 or B000
if you have B000 then you got a lovely short box big bearing case if you have A000 unlucky mate small bearing case nice long ratios for you the 000 on the end can vary but generally its either A000 or B000 only 2 sets of gearing was really offered in europe and europe got the shortest ratio short box and longest ratio long box the 'JDM' one you love so much just had a different final drive, gear ratios were the same.
dude your wrong bout the ek3 boxes for 1/4 times the gearing is way to long and by the time you got past 2nd gear you would of lost you need a short box for 1/4 mile turbo's to help build up your boost and get up the RPM's as quick as you can to build up speed, there was a massive debat about this over on one of the turbo Civic forums and someone actually went out and did a test and result long box was crap for 1/4
really sorry for asking this but i really don't know much about box's....
if some one puts a box from a EG esi into a ek3 what does it do to the porformance of the car? does it make it run quicker or what does it do?
i know people might moan at me for asking but i really don't know and would like to know...
it will give you quicker acceleration but lower top speed
do you know how much lower end it will give? is it worth changing, so say if my box fu*ked up would you recamed me to get that box or go like for like box?
If your box is fucked you may as well change it for a z6/y8 box
i bet you know what i'm going to ask??
when you say z6 are you on about a D15z6 (which is the same engine in my car)
is the d15z6 the same in a EG and a EK
and y6 which is d16y8 out of a EG
am i right with what i've put??
