sorry if this is in the wrong forum
but how can you tell the difference between EJ and EK?
UKDM (96-00) - 1.4 SOHC Hatchback, 1.6 SOHC and 1.6 SOHC VTEC coupes are EJ
1.5 SOHC VTEC-E, 1.6 DOHC VTEC (hatch and saloon), 1.6 Type-R are EK
and to confuse matters the 1.6 DOHC VTEC Coupe is an EM
it doesnt make that much of a difference, just the chassis code
why do you need to know and someone will be able to help you better
cheers m8 i have just bought a Civic and some people are sayin its EJ and others are sayin EK
its a d14 SOHC engine nd its an r-reg
its known as an EJ9....but 6th gens are commonly referred to as EKs
i always thought it was to do with the flagship model being an EK(9) same with the EP(3) even though you got EM and ES 7th gens they are still commonly known as EPS....if you get what i mean
look under your bonnet at the VIN plate thingy just above your battery itll say on there
Honda just couldn't resist but to make things not simple!
you have a Ej9, but i don't think people whould hunt you down and jump on you head if you say you've got an EK
1.4 is the EJ
Facelift or pre-facelift are known as the same thing, the 1.4 is an EJ9.
alright guys cheers just wanted to no for buyin parts
Technically its EJ yeah, I still refer to it as EK though, as will most....
