Little update... I suspect I f*cked a rev match on a downshift and cylinder 4's conrod came out to say "hello"... lost all oil pressure on the way to work. Now trying to source another D16Y8...
It gets worse, the exhaust fell off the Civic on the way home on Friday night...now daily driving a Dacia Sandero. It's beyond tragic.
So, I asked about buying a JDM SiR rear panel for the plate recess and rear foglight delete just after trying to source an engine. The guy I asked sent me it anyway and said "pay me on payday" after seeing that the Del Slo and the Civic both decided to break this week.
Little update..."The Guy" is Fraser McNeill at Japcom. Top bloke. Car's been collected for it's engine swap. Hopefully should have the little beaut back this week.
No, that's true...but for the time being I'm borrowing my Dad's 2003 K12 Micra...CR14DE (1.4 DOHC, MPI, 88hp) bolted to a CVT Auto which doesn't know it's head from it's arse. Handles pretty well though at least, unlike the Dacia. I'm definitely missing the Del Sol though. ETA at present is Thursday.
@Matt at H-Tune oh no, an auto Micra! You could use your weekend toy, it should be fun to use as daily for a while
Drove home last night as the sun was going down, for saying it's still basically a completely standard car with a D16, still puts a huge smile on my face.
This car is the biggest pain in the arse I've encountered... Approaching a roundabout on Sunday night, about 11:30pm...foot down on the clutch to change down...went to the floor. Slave Cylinder seal failed, one simple O-Ring incappacitated the car for a day. £28 later (perks of being ex-staff at a certain well known parts factor), Pagid OE spec replacement slave fited, clutch line bled (easiest job in the world on these). 2 bolts and one line, car's fixed. Gearbox is making some dodgy noises, suspect I'll be pulling it soon to replace the box for the original (which is on 84k, not 125k+) and the clutch. - - - Updated - - - On the bright side...it looks good.
Still need to replace the gearbox, so will be doing the clutch while it's out...speaking of things being out though, all of my money is gone.
Box replaced, input shaft bearing was done for...very surprised it didn't drop it's diff. Old (83k, rather than 125k+) gearbox re-fitted, no issues.
