I think you mentioned check the ATF oil level when the engine was stone cold, could you please check again but using the process described above.
In the instructions for checking the ATF fluid for an FR-V it mentions the symptoms that you describe as being attributed to low ATF level, see this :-
From what you said it kinda sounds like the level should be OK but let's eliminate that properly by following the correct procedure.
