Well Spring is here with 4 inches of snow  I am preparing for the annual spring strip clean and reassembly for all four corners and a brake fluid flush. This time I want to paint the caliper \spray paint them with Silver VHT and the black the hubs, both in satin effect

I need to get the best paint money can buy as I want this to last any opinions.

    Caliper Paint

My local Halfords don't stock the right colour caliper paint but I'm wondering can I use this stuff?

    Re: Caliper Paint

yes you can, but tbh you don't need some special paint, I used Hammerite to paint my ATR calipers and there's no signs or smells of burning paint and it's there for nearly two years ;-)

Cheers, I ended up getting that stuff from Halfords for all the cost of it. It's going to be my task to pass time between coats when I do my bumper tomorrow.

What's the best paint for calipers ?

The comments in http://h-tune.co.uk/club/threads/5863/ thread got me wondering what actually is the best paint for calipers.

What have people tried and what have they found ?

I've tried Hammerite in the past, looks good for a while but it dulls with heat as time passes.

CJ says he's tried Simoniz Very High Temperature paint but it can come off if something like brake cleaner is used on it.

Has anyone tried Foliatic High Temp Caliper Paint ?

It's not cheap stuff but it's suppose to be purpose made for calliper application.

    Re: Caliper Paint

I have used that Halfords enamel paint on my old scooter exhaust downpipe and it lasts well at exhaust temoperature so i imagine it would be good enough for brake calipers.

Yes, I did, I painted my calipers in "carbon metallic" (in spring 2011) - it´s really a good stuff - looks like new 2 years later ....
Here some photos I made 2011 (changed my rims in meantime .. ):

    caliper-front. caliper-rear. wheel-rear.

    Hi SpeedyGee,

... enclosed some pics I made this afternoon (unfortunately my new rims are a little bit "more covering") Pherhaps the Foliatec painting has lost a bit of his shiny look after two really "salty winter" - but it has got no damage and there came no rust again ...

You´ve also started your painting test ?

Anyone looking for red foliatec stuff and lives near Manchester, there's an eBay listing for half the average price.
