Heh, you're like my doppelgänger. I play drums, and my name is Phil too.

That's my current setup, haven't played at home for about a year because I have new neighbours and their pets hate the loud noises. I'm too much of a nice bloke to terrorise them just cos I can... All my cymbals are broken too, given up replacing them as I'm putting money into the Civic! Used to play drums in a band called Twelve Day Year. Though the drums weren't anything fancy, just enough to keep the plot going heh. Currently in a covers band and a weird "Jazz/pop/rock/funk" band...

What kind of stuff do you play?

Need to find myself a band again, i ll get a picture of my drums up tomorrow

Ur set up is the same as mine nearly lol

I broke lods of stuff over the years cymbals, pedals, snares, heads and of course a forest of sticks lol

I've been playing for 4 or so years now. Originally played cello, and picked up kit as a second instrument. My set up's pretty basic as i only really played the kit at home, but recently joined a band, and we seem to do well so i want to upgrade my cymbals. The band's called Birth of Kiddo, here's our facebook if you're interested.... http://www.facebook.com/edinburgh.kiddo (Shameless plug

    Here's some pictures:

It's just basic stuff, the snare's a custom jobbie though, 10 ply maple with die cast hoops, i love it! Next on the list is a new ride. Oh, and don't worry about the skins on the snare, they were changed ages ago  The planet z crash has also been replaced with something much nicer haha.

This is me at the last gig, typical guitarist getting in the way

This is my old band, I'm currently in a pub covers band but I'm really aching to play some original songs. It's tough finding musicians in hertfordshire :'(

Thanks mate! I'll be honest, im not very happy with that recording, it was our first gig so we were all pretty nervous haha. Hopefully get a recording from our gig this thursday, we're ALOT tighter now!

Im just listening to the recordings on that link, i really like them! It's something i would happily have on my ipod tbh. Thats one thing that I wish we did, maybe slightly heavier/rockier music.

Original stuff is SO much fun haha. I'd never done it before this band. Love the freedom you get with it. Yeah i found it really difficult to get into a band, luckily we have a University society that helps people meet that want to form a band. We just clicked and it seems to be going well, 3rd gig on Thursday and only been together about 6 months

EDIT - Spelling like a retard.

Nice! Pretty much all my friends are musicians, unfortunately they're all already in bands! The guys in my old band (Twelve Day Year) went on to form a new band called Trial By Fire. I initially didn't want to carry on with the band after we split up, but I regret the decision now as their new drummer isn't as original as me and it pains me to see them play with him on stage... Being in a band is like being in a strange relationship hah...

Currently looking for a drummer to start a new band though! I've decided I'm somewhat bored of playing drums live and want to work on my guitar / vocals / songwriting a bit more. I've rarely met any decent drummers where I live though, would be awesome if I knew some of the uni students!

Enjoy your gig R1PPU, hope it goes well!

Haha, i know what you mean. A friend of mines was a drummer for a really good band, he had to leave due to uni commitments, the new drummer is nowhere near as good as he was. But i guess these things happen. Haha, tell me about it!

Ah, at least you can do other things! The only other thing i do is play cello, so quite limited haha. Yeah, it certainly helps!

Thanks mate, appreciate it! Good luck with getting the car fixed

A massive range! From metal (Lamb of God) to Jazz (Miles Davis) and everything in between. My current band is called The Pirate Captains, we play ska and punk covers of pop songs. We ca be found of Facebook and there's also a video of us doing Johnny B. Goode on YouTube.
