Got a question... 9 times out of 10 my C4 EK starts fine, normally within what sounds like two turns of the crank, but every now and then ill go to start it and itll really sound like its struggling, just cranking over and occasionally itll die straight off. What could cause this? I've thought possibly spark plugs, or not getting fuel. But it smells fuely every now and then so I don't think its that It uses normal amounts of oil, doesnt drink coolant or smoke excessively. It is on a htune...

Currnetly running a 2.25 system on my C4, hopping to get it mapped in the future, would a 2.5 inch system really make that much difference? As its only 0.25 bigger?

Unless you[re planning on massive upgrades in the future your 2.25 will more than do a good job of expelling those spent gasses. You'll likely gain nothing from a 2.5 unless you have big cams/valves and a decent inlet mani etc

I am planning on changing the wanky C4 inlet to something skunk / blox related, and throttle body to match, still worth keeping the 2.25 system?

It's negligible at those power levels. I'd say 2.25 would be fine without headwork on a c4. Might gain a few top of the revs hp but not worth the outlay on a full system for a few hp.

Looking for an adjustable decat, still running the standard C4 manifold, am I correct in thinking its 2.25 diameter?

Yep, 2.25". Got mine off eBay IIRC.

Probably me being paranoid, but is there anyway to check if the water pump is working correctly? Iam running a toyosports ally rad, engine gets up to temp, top hose is hot, heat through the vents and its been left running for hour, temp gauge doesn't move above half way and the fan kicks in as normal but the bottom his doesn't really get hot... Kinda paranoid here

Oh I don't know Daf, I think I could get used to it. Luckily it was good weather mind as he has said its like bambi on ice in the wet. Personally really surprised how much of a cruiser they can be, nice to be sat at sorta 70/80MPH and not be at like 4500 revs haha. I'll defiantly take yours if its going cheap enough :P

Mine definitely won't be cheap lol, but its not going to be excessive either.

I was going to be generous and give the buyer, the old 45K engine as well. Which needs a new head and the rest just stripping and checking over, but I may have a buyer for the engine now.

Will be going up for £5000ono as is, at 88k. Plus all the standard bits except suspension as that shits only fit for the bin lol.

Like you said amazing to cruise in, just effortless... It's just the faf...

Interesting problem has cropped up while rebuilding my B18c4. I swapped over crank pulleys as the original had quite a large piece missing, so I got one off my mates B18c. Only issue is they are ever so slightly different, meaning now my alternator belt is too long, and power steering pump too short... Anyone know what belts I need? Also, are all B series power steering pumps the same??
      1. harVTEC
        harVTEC
Might be a stupid question, but are you sure you've not got the belts mixed up? If one is too long and the other is too short, is it not possible to swap them round? There are a couple of different versions of the PS pumps, one has a larger hose outlet than the other

no not a stupid question at all dude, I though exactly the same when I first noticed it haha. Thought stop being a twat haha. But I've sat there adjusting both the PS pump and alternator and neither will fit, no matter how you jiggle it all around :(

Looking for some advice guys... Bought a full engine swap out of an MB6, it came with an ECU which reads 37820 - P9K - E11. I've just bought a supposed OBD2a EK4 loom and none of the plugs fit into the ECU... Can anyone shed some light on this please

Yeah Kev's on the money, my insurance really doesnt have long left and I think its silly to loose out on a NCB when it'll just be sitting in the garage. I am on the look out for a run around atm as it looks like I've got piston ring failure on the Civic. I was looking at a Prelude and they only wanted 100 pound more to swap my polices over, which I think is worth it imo while I work on the Civic. cheers homies

Engine swap question... I've managed to pop my D14, so need to find a replacement till the swap is ready. Been offered a low mileage D14 outta a preface, only issue is its an auto. Is there anything stopping me from just putting my current clutch and flywheel on the new engine? And would it run? If theres anything iam missing, can people speak up. Really need to get this sorted ASAP, I hate walking lolz

What is it lately with people asking CRAZY money for Civics? Nearly 3K for Yazz's old Civic on HPFS. Another wanting 2.5K because it had some new blue paint and badly fitting wheels? Should put mine up for 5.7K considering how much its had done to it. Fuck, when did I get so old

breaker bars are shit they give good force but u need to shock it to break a tight seal try hitting the breaker bar with a hammer about 6 inches from the hub but watch your hands cos the kick back can damage your wrist or pop to a garage get them to airline it off then do it up with a ratchet and gently limp it home,

a decent impact gun should be able to shock it off
