Further Information:

Action Clutch Inc. was founded in 1962 by avid racer and automotive enthusiast Gary Bart. The company began as a clutch repair and replacement supplier for local service shops in the greater Los Angeles area. During this time, nearby Lions Drag Strip was running at full tilt and racers were searching for a clutch that would simply hold the tremendous amounts of power that they were making.

It was at this time that Action began its transition into the aftermarket industry. Gary designed and tested countless clutch setups to find what worked and what didn't. He was a pioneer in developing the early dual diaphragm pressure plates, which are used around the world today. Nearly 50 years later, Action Clutch continues its quest to manufacture the highest quality clutches, through continuous research and product development.

The 1OS clutch kit features a single diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to an organic sprung disc. The clutch kit is engineered for naturally aspirated vehicles with bolt-ons who encounter heavy duty street use. A significant increase in clamping force is obtained, while still retaining OEM driving characteristics. The clutch features a slight increase in pedal pressure, smooth / linear engagement, and an extended wear life.

Approximately 50% extra clamping force over stock.

The 1KS clutch kit features a single diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to a segmented kevlar sprung disc. The clutch kit is engineered for high horsepower naturally aspirated vehicles who encounter heavy duty street use and weekend racing. A significant increase in clamping force is obtained, while still retaining OEM driving characteristics. The clutch features a slight increase in pedal pressure, smooth / linear engagement, high resistant to heat and the longest wear rate of any clutch in the Action Clutch lineup

Approximately 70% extra clamping force over stock.

The 1MS clutch kit features a single diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to a metalic sprung disc. The clutch kit is engineered for high horsepower vehicles that encounter heavy duty street use and frequent drag / road / drift racing. The sprung hub provides moderate dampening, rendering this clutch kit much more streetable than an sold disc design. The clutch features a slight increase in pedal pressure, smooth / linear engagement, rapid heat dissipation and outstanding holding capacity.

Approximately 170% extra clamping force over stock.

The 1MD clutch kit features a single diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to a metallic direct disc. The clutch kit is engineered for high horsepower vehicles that encounter heavy duty street use and frequent drag / road / drift racing. The un-sprung hub is extremely lightweight and provides instant engagement. The clutch features a slight increase in pedal pressure, aggressive engagement, rapid heat dissipation and outstanding holding capacity.

Approximately 170% extra clamping force over stock.

The 2MS clutch kit features a dual diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to a metallic sprung disc. This clutch kit is engineered for dedicated high horsepower race vehicles. The clutch features a significant increase in pedal pressure, aggressive engagement, rapid heat dissipation and outstanding holding capacity.

Approximately 200-400% extra clamping force over stock.

The 2MS clutch kit features a dual diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate mated to a metallic direct disc. This clutch kit is engineered for dedicated high horsepower race vehicles. The unsprung hub is extremely lightweight and provides instant engagement. The clutch features a significant increase in pedal pressure, aggressive engagement, rapid heat dissipation and outstanding holding capacity.

Approximately 200-400% extra clamping force over stock.

This kit is for drag and track use only. This kit is our kryptonite, the pressure plates used on this kit are far from normal, we do special heat treatment and we use different material’s. Also the kit is de-assemble to make a modification inside and outside the cover.

Package Includes:

  • Stage 1-7 Friction Disc
  • Heavy Duty Pressure Plate
  • Release Bearing
  • Alignment Tool
  • Pair of Action Clutch Stickers

Frequently Asked Questions

What components are included with an Action Clutch kit?
Action Clutch kits come complete with all components necessary to install the clutch. Components include pressure plate, clutch disk, throw-out bearing, and alignment tool. High quality Japanese pilot bearings are also included in applications that call for such component.
Is flywheel resurfacing or a new flywheel necessary before installing my Action Ctluch?
A smooth, flat flywheel surface is essential for proper clutch operation. Flywheels are subject to heat, scoring, and warping during use. We highly recommend that the flywheel be resurfaced by a reputable automotive machine shop whenever a clutch kit is installed. Resurfacing should be done on a flywheel-grinding machine only. If your flywheel shows any signs of cracking, replace it. Never roughen the flywheel clutch surface with sanding as this reduces clutch life. The surfaces are designed to rub against each other (producing friction), not tear into each other.
Do Action Clutches require a break-in period?
Yes, all Action Clutches must undergo a break in process of moderate stop and go driving. We recommend a break in period of 250 miles for organic (Stage 1), 500 for pucked discs (Stage 3-6) and 1000 miles for Kevlar discs (Stage 2). Failure to break in the clutch can cause damage to the clutch and will void warranty.
Will an Action Clutch increase pedal effort?
Action pressure plates are specifically designed to handle high torque applications. With increased clamping force and torque capacity, comes increased pedal pressure. The Stage 1 organic single diaphragm pressure plates increase pedal pressure vs. OEM by approximately 25%. The Stage 2 Kevlar pressure plates increase pedal pressure vs. OEM by approximately 50%.
Can an Action Clutch puck style disc be used for daily driving? (Stage 3-6)
Puck discs are very aggressive and offer a no nonsense performance action. The engagement of a puck style disc will be much more abrupt and longevity of the disc is considerably less than a full face disc. The puck style discs are intended for racing applications, but can also be used on street driven vehicles. As a customer you must decide on the trade off between daily driven comfort and performance gains.
